Catastrophic Assistance Fund Pledges $5,000 to Assist Hurricane Victims

Posted On: 8/30/2017

In 2004, Midland Memorial Hospital established a Catastrophic Assistance Fund (CAF). Since its inception, it has provided over $250,000 in assistance to employees who have experienced difficult circumstances. Although MMH provided the initial start-up gift, it is fully supported by donations from employees, fundraising events and generous community members.

The CAF has pledged a $5,000 donation to the THA Hospital Employee Assistance Fund, a fund set up by the Texas Hospital Association to assist hospital employees who have experienced significant property damage or loss. Midland Health employees are encouraged to join our Pickle Challenge for Charity, happening now through September 8th. Monies collected will be added to the $5,000 above and donated to the THA Hospital Employee Assistance Fund after the challenge ends.

This is not the first time the CAF has made a donation to support health care workers. In 2013, the CAF provided assistance to those affected by the explosion in West Texas, and in 2016, CAF provided assistance to those impacted by the flooding in Louisiana.

If you would like to make a difference, please donate directly to the THA Hospital Employee Assistance Fund online at tha.org/harvey/assistancefund or mail a check to:
