Total Hip Replacement

Total Hip ReplacementTotal Hip Replacement is a surgical procedure in which the damaged bone at the top of the femur is cut and removed and the prosthesis is implanted to replace the bone within the hip joint. The prosthesis is made of titanium metal and consists of three parts: the cup that replaces the hip socket, the ball that replaces the head of the femur and a metal stem that is inserted into the femur and is attached to the ball replacing the head of the femur.

Total Hip Replacement may be recommended if:

  • You are unable to work, sleep, or enjoy physical activities due to the hip pain
  • You have diagnosed arthritis of the hip
