Dr. John C. Dean is a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder and sports medicine and is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. John was born and raised in Midland. He received a mechanical engineering degree from Texas A&M which he uses in his design and patent pursuits. After completing his medical training at Baylor, University of Utah, and Case Western, he returned to Midland to go into practice with his father, the late Dr. Thurston Dean in 1993. John took over being team doctor responsibilities for both Midland High and Lee High after his father retired in 1998. Today, West Texas Orthopedics (WTO) is proud to continue this sports coverage.
John also gives back to the community by serving as the Medical Director at the Midland Children’s Rehab Center. John is an active member and Deacon at his church, Stonegate Fellowship. He is married to Deborah and they have three girls, Michelle, Afton, and Mckenzie.
