Dr. Gage Liesman was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He enjoyed playing football, soccer, and lacrosse in high school, as well as riding horses, and became an Eagle Scout in 2003.

Dr. Liesman earned his Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas, and graduated with honors in 2009. During his time in Austin, he played Intercollegiate Polo, serving as the President of the UT Polo Club as well as Team Captain. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2013 and was elected as a member of the selective Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and recipient of the Franklin Student Award. He then went on to complete his Orthopedic Surgery Residency in Fort Worth at the John Peter Smith Hospital alongside Dr. Ryan Rowland. Dr. Liesman then completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama founded by Dr. Andrews.

He has traveled to Panama with the UT Global Medical Training Medical Mission Trip and has spent countless hours volunteering with programs such as the Texas Medical Association “Hard Hats for Little Heads”, and the MS-150 fundraising bike ride. Dr. Liesman’s academic research throughout his training include a wide variety of topics including hip and knee arthroplasty, elbow fractures, and biceps tendon ruptures.

Throughout his residency and fellowship Dr. Liesman has served as team physician for Samford University, Shades Valley, Birmingham Barons Baseball, University of West Alabama Rodeo, and University of Texas at Arlington Athletics.

Dr. Liesman specializes in sports medicine, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, and fracture care. When he is not working, he enjoys riding horses, playing polo, hiking, hunting, college football and traveling.
