National Healthcare Decisions Day

No one likes to think about worst-case scenarios. Unfortunately, every day, family members are summoned to emergency departments to make life and death decisions for those who matter most to them. It always seems too early, until it’s too late.
Midland Health, along with other national, state and community organizations, are leading a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making—an effort that has culminated in the formal designation of April 16 as National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD).
We are providing information and tools for the public to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, and execute written advance directives (healthcare power of attorney and living will) in accordance with Texas state laws.
On April 21 from 11 AM to 1 PM, Midland Health and Hospice Midland are collaborating for a public event at Hospice Midland to offer free information about advance care planning and advance directives. Clinical staff will also be present to answer any questions attendees may have about end-of-life care.
