MMH Florence Nightingale Celebration and Nursing Award

Posted On: 5/8/2013

Midland Memorial Hospital will celebrate the legacy of Florence Nightingale on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in the Scharbauer Patient Tower main lobby.

During this time, the hospital will award its first annual Midland Memorial Hospital Nightingale Award to one Midland Memorial Hospital nurse.

Florence Nightingale is known for turning the practice of nursing into a profession and for her support in the nursing and medical industries. The award will be given to a nominated nurse whose actions from last year most reflect the characteristics noted by Joe Tye in his book, “The Florence Prescription: From Accountability to Ownership.”

Criteria for the award include commitment, engagement, passion, initiative, stewardship, belonging, fellowship and pride in nursing and caring for patients, visitors and staff of Midland Memorial Hospital.

The event is being held on Thursday, a few days before Ms. Nightingale’s birthday, during National Nurses Week.
Please join us, as this event is opened to all Midland Memorial Hospital staff, visitors and general public. Refreshments will be served.
