Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery is designed to provide surgeons with the capabilities of a traditional open surgery through small incisions. This type of surgery can be accomplished with the use of special instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human wrist. Robotic surgery provides the surgeons with enhanced vision, precision dexterity and control. Robotic surgery offers patients the following benefits compared to traditional open surgery:

Shorter hospital stay
Fewer complications
Minimal scarring
Less blood loss

Midland Memorial Hospital was the first hospital in West Texas to offer the latest technology in robotic surgery. In November 2014, the da Vinci Xi Surgical System was installed, offering patients the latest technology in minimally invasive surgery. This system offers the surgeon revolutionary anatomical access, crystal clear 3D HD images and a platform built for advanced technologies. The da Vinci Xi system is designed to make highly complex, multi-quadrant surgeries easier to be completed through a minimally invasive approach. Midland Memorial Hospital has the most experienced robotic surgery program in the Permian Basin.
