About J. William Mathewson, MD
Dr. John William Mathewson currently practices at West Texas Orthopedics, located in the Legends Park Medical Office Building in Midland, Texas.
Dr. Mathewson is an orthopedic surgeon, board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, where he was inducted into the International Honor Society and graduated in the top 5% of his class. After his Chief Residency in General Surgery at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Mathewson pursued a fellowship in orthopedic hand surgery and microsurgery at the University of Minnesota and trained at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in advanced microsurgical techniques.
Dr. Mathewson prides himself in his approachable, competent and holistic approach to patient care. Providing his patients with cutting edge technology that allows for minimal disruption to their lives, Dr. Mathewson excels in all hand, wrist, and elbow procedures and has performed thousands of procedures including carpal tunnel correction, cubital tunnel release, fractures, wrist arthroscopy, and De Quervain’s release.
Dr. Mathewson is an outdoors enthusiast who loves being active in sports, such as soccer, skiing, and scuba diving. In addition, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
