Community Garden to Open This Fall

As part of the mission to make Midland the healthiest city in Texas, Midland Health is creating a community garden. The garden will have approximately 34 garden plots, allowing individuals and families to plant and harvest their own organic produce. The cost to rent a garden plot is nominal, only $32 per year or $16 per half-year.

Midland Health has been working with the Permian Basin Master Gardeners on this project. "The Master Gardeners have been a huge asset. They've helped us with the garden logistics and will host classes and workshops for plot holders before the garden opens," Marcy Madrid, vice president of planning and marketing, said.

This week, construction for the Midland Health Community Garden will begin at the Midland Memorial Hospital West Campus, located at 4214 Andrews Highway in Midland, TX. The garden is expected to be open by August of this year.
