The Breast Center Welcomes Tomosynthesis (3D) Mammography Unit

Midland Health welcomes the digital tomosynthesis unit, a new dimension in breast cancer detection.

Performed with digital mammography, breast tomosynthesis takes multiple images of the entire breast. This advanced process makes it easy and more accurate for both physicians and patients. The Breast Center is the only full-service breast imaging center in town.

Breast tomosynthesis is a breakthrough in mammography. Benefits include:
-- Earlier detection of small breast cancers
-- Greater accuracy in pinpointing size, shape and location of abnormalities
-- Fewer unnecessary biopsies or additional tests
-- Greater likelihood of detecting multiple breast tumors
-- Clearer images of dense breast tissue

The Breast Center is an ACR breast center of excellence and an NQMBC breast center of excellence (one of only three in the state of Texas). The Breast Center has spent considerable time and resources achieving these designations. The radiologists at The Breast Center (Dr. Dalehite, Dr. Hightower and Dr. Edwards), have over 100 years combined of experience in mammography.
