Second Annual Wellness Tour

Join us Wednesday, Aug. 10 - Saturday, Aug. 13 for the second annual Wellness Tour, an event promoting health and wellness throughout the entire area of West Texas. Over 30 events will be taking place throughout these four days, encouraging healthy eating habits, exercise, immunizations and much more.

Wednesday, Aug. 10: Kick-Off Day
Wet 'n' Wild with the Midland Fire Dept.
4 pm. to 7 p.m. at C.J. Kelly Park
Cool off and get active with local firefighters and Heroes Gym with a variety of water activities and boot camp exercises.

Thursday, Aug. 11: Health Screenings & Education Day
Free Back-to-School Immunizations
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Midland Health Department, 3303 W. Illinois Ave.
Learn more about which immunizations are needed by what age to help your children stay healthy as they grow big and strong. Free immunizations will also be given on a first-come, first-served basis to those who qualify.

Lighting the Way for Health
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Midland Memorial Hospital, 1st floor by The Market
Discover fun and easy ways you and your family can be healthier and live longer. There will be important health information and free health screenings available. Sample healthy lunch options in The Market from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 12: Exercise & Nutrition Day
Moms and Kiddos Stroll the Park
9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Grafa Park
Bring your children, share advice and enjoy a leisurely walk through Grafa Park.

Food Is Medicine Lunch and Learn
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Midland College, Scharbauer Student Center
Enjoy a plant-based lunch and learn about the benefits of plant-based nutrition from Blythe Awtrey, RN, MSN, and certified in plant-based nutrition, Dr. Staton Awtrey, and Dr. Padmaja Patel. Spots are limited and registration is required. A $5 fee covers lunch and biometric screenings.

Work Out with an Olympian and Play Bubble Soccer
4 pm. to 7 p.m. at Windlands Park (Rain-out location is Junior League of Midland)
Join Johnny Quinn, U.S. Olympic Bobsled athlete, for a workout in the park. Compete against others in your age group and see who can last the longest. This FREE workout is open to everyone. To register for this special event, visit goo.gl/1SzJ2v.

Saturday, Aug. 13: Family Day
Rhythm Run 5K, Heart Walk and 1st Annual Bed Races
8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Midland College, 3600 N. Garfield.
Start your day of health on the right foot with the 2016 Rhythm Run and Walk for Hearts, benefiting local heart patients through the Dr. Joseph Suckarieh Memorial Fund. The Bed Races (decorating included) are the first of its kind in West Texas and proceeds will benefit the Dr. Ravi Patel Foundation fund. The Midland Fire Department will be teaching CPR.

Community Garden Grand Opening and Farmers' Market

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Midland Memorial West Campus, 4214 Andrews Hwy.
Take a tour of the garden plots, purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers and learn how to start a garden at home with tips from the Permian Basin Master Gardeners.
