MMH Pediatric Unit earns Pediatric Nursing Excellence Award from the Society of Pediatric Nurses
Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) is proud to announce that the Pediatric Unit has been awarded the Sapphire Pediatric Nursing Excellence Award by the Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN). This award is a recognition of MMH’s commitment to improving the quality of life of patients by enhancing our standards of care.
In 2022, the Society of Pediatric Nurses released the Pediatric Nursing Excellence Model. The heart of this model is to ensure pediatric nurses keep developmentally appropriate care as their primary focus within the five established domains of excellence: engagement, values, principles, care delivery, and continuous improvement.
To earn this award, the Midland Memorial Hospital Pediatric Unit participated in an extensive application process that required detailed documentation on the organization’s practices. The award is given at three levels: Platinum, Sapphire, and Diamond, differentiated by which components of the model are successfully demonstrated. Each program’s applications are blinded and peer-reviewed by a team of pediatric nurses using the Pediatric Nursing Excellence Award scoring tool.
As an association representing more than 3,100 members and over 500 organizations, SPN award-winning organizations are leaders in the pediatric nursing field. They offer the most advanced practices and have proven track records of high-quality patient care. SPN’s Pediatric Nursing Excellence Award is valid for two years.
