Midland Memorial Hospital Earns Level III NICU Designation, Expanding Specialized Care for Newborns
Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) has received Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services, recognizing the hospital as a designated facility for the care of newborns who need specialized medical attention.
A Level III NICU provides care for newborns who are premature or have complex medical needs. The designation reflects Midland Health’s commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care for babies and their families. In addition, it allows newborns of all gestational ages to be cared for at MMH. If needed, the NICU has established key partnerships with Cook Children’s and Covenant Children’s Hospital for a higher level of specialty care.
“This designation represents our continued commitment to providing high-quality care for our smallest and most vulnerable patients. Families deserve access to specialized newborn care close to home, surrounded by a skilled team that understands how important these early moments are for patients and families. We are proud of the dedication of our NICU team and the care they provide to families throughout our region.”
Stephen Bowerman, President and Chief Executive Officer
MMH’s NICU team includes highly trained physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who work together to support newborns and their families during challenging and often unexpected circumstances. By providing specialized care in Midland, the hospital helps families remain close to their support systems while their babies receive the medical attention they need.
The designation supports Midland Health’s ongoing mission of leading healthcare for greater Midland by strengthening access to services and delivering quality, compassionate care to the community.
