68 Nurse Triage Hotline

Urgent medical situations can happen when you least expect it. Now you can prepared with accurate medical advice provided at a moment's notice from 68 NURSE, a free hotline provided by Midland Memorial Hospital that serves the entire Permian Basin. 

68Nurse is a free 24-hour call service providing medical advice given by a registered nurse. The nurses give free medical advice, but they also help with medication questions, home care advice, and local resources offered for various healthcare conditions.  Recently 68Nurse has been instrumental in helping provide information on resources available for mental health services to those experiencing anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts or ideations.  

Many times, medical conditions can be treated at home or by a primary care physician.  These options are typically less expensive than emergency services.  If you are unsure where to be treated, 68Nurse can help.  Not only do they provide medical advice, they can give you advice on where to receive proper care.  They have information on many providers in the Permian Basin including types of services offered and the type of insurance providers will accept.  Depending on your condition, you may be able to wait until a provider opens during normal business hours and prevent costly, long waits in the Emergency Department.  

If you have any medical questions, our Registered Nurses are available. Typical calls include those for medication questions, fever when you just want to know when you should have it checked out, cough, colds, headache, abdominal pain, and high blood pressure.  We even discuss post op symptoms and concerns if you have just been discharged from the hospital. One new feature we have in the call center is the ability to receive images. The nurses can send secure links where you can post images such as a rash. The nurse can review the image and give you recommendations.
