Sleep Disorders

There are many causes of sleep deprivation which may intrude upon your ability to sleep well. Perhaps you're one of the millions of Americans who trade sleep for more work or play. Whatever the reason, it is critically important to realize that sleep deprivation is often due to unrecognized sleep disorders.

After a typical night's sleep, you may not feel restored and refreshed. You might think, "It's just the stress of work or the kids," or you might have "always felt this way," and had no idea you should feel differently. This lack of awareness compounds the consequences, because so many people remain undiagnosed for years.

In the long term, the clinical consequences of untreated sleep disorders are significant. Sleep disorders are associated with numerous, serious medical illnesses including:

  • high blood pressure
  • heart attack or failure
  • stroke
  • obesity
  • depression
  • fetal and childhood growth retardation
  • injury from accidents
  • and many more

Let our experts at the Diagnostic Sleep Center of Midland assist you and your health care provider in detecting the source of your sleep disorder. The relaxing, safe environment of our labs will lull you to sleep as you take the first step toward achieving better rest. Our spacious rooms are filled with all the wonderful amenities of home.

Not sure if you have a sleep disorder? Take the following test:

1. Do you snore?
2. Is your snoring louder than talking?
3. Do you snore more than three times per week?
4. Does your snoring bother others?
5. Has anyone noticed that you quit breathing when you sleep or anytime?
6. Do you feel tired or fatigued after sleeping?
7. Do you feel tired or not up to par more than three times per week?
8. Have you ever nodded off or fallen asleep while driving a vehicle?

If you answered YES to three or more of the above questions, you may have a sleep disorder.
