A hospital stay can be an overwhelming experience for both children and their loved ones. That is why we intentionally focus on reducing fear and anxiety while encouraging parents to play an active role in their child’s care and decision-making. From our Comfort Menu, which helps families support their child through invasive procedures, to our dedicated pediatric treatment room designed to preserve the patient’s hospital room as a safe and comforting space, every aspect of our care model is centered around the emotional and physical well-being of the child and family.
One of the pillars of the Society of Pediatric Nurses’ Pediatric Excellence Award is Patient and Family-Centered Care, and Midland Memorial Hospital is honored to be recognized as a Sapphire Award recipient for Pediatric Excellence. As part of this commitment, every family admitted to our pediatric unit receives a comprehensive welcome book that outlines what to expect during their stay and provides valuable educational resources to help guide them through their child’s hospitalization. This book was thoughtfully created by our pediatric nursing team to help families feel informed, supported, and connected throughout their healthcare experience. This resource is currently available in both English and Spanish. By ensuring families have access to clear, supportive information, we help parents feel confident and prepared to participate in their child’s care from the moment they arrive.
