Celebrating Healthcare HR Week: March 16–22
March 16–22, 2026 is Healthcare Human Resources Week, a time to recognize the HR professionals who support healthcare organizations across the country. At Midland Health, this week provides an opportunity to celebrate the Human Resources team and the important role they play in supporting our employees and strengthening the workforce that cares for our community.
Human Resources plays a vital role in the healthcare environment, partnering with leaders and employees to attract talented professionals, support career development, and ensure a positive and productive workplace. Over the past several years, the healthcare workforce has experienced significant changes, and HR teams across the industry have adapted to meet evolving needs.
At Midland Health, these changes led to new approaches in recruiting, onboarding, training, and employee support, including expanded virtual hiring and onboarding processes and greater flexibility in how we connect with and serve employees. These enhancements remain central to a positive employee experience to this day.
During Healthcare HR Week, we are proud to highlight Midland Health’s Human Resources team and the specialized roles they perform every day to support employees and help advance healthcare for greater Midland.
Employee Experience
The Employee Experience team serves as the welcoming face of Human Resources and often provides the first direct interaction new employees have with Midland Health. With a combined 43 years of experience in HR, this team plays a vital role in creating a positive first impression and helping employees feel connected from their very first day.
They coordinate and facilitate the new hire process, including onboarding and orientation, ensuring that each employee is prepared with the information, resources, and support needed to begin their role successfully. From processing employment documentation to guiding employees through their first days with the organization, the team helps create a smooth and welcoming transition into the Midland Health community.
Beyond onboarding, the Employee Experience team helps reinforce the culture and values that define Midland Health. They serve as a resource for employees navigating HR processes and work closely with other HR teams to ensure employees receive consistent support throughout their employment journey.
They also oversee the management of traveler and contract clinical staff, helping ensure the hospital maintains the staffing necessary to care for our community.
Through their daily interactions with employees and leaders, the Employee Experience team plays an important role in shaping the overall employee experience and supporting a workplace where individuals feel welcomed, informed, and engaged.
Talent Acquisition
The Talent Acquisition team is composed of recruiting professionals with diverse backgrounds and a combined 49 years of human resource experience. This team is passionate about attracting and retaining top talent to serve our patients and community.
Their work encompasses full-cycle recruiting, managing every stage of the hiring process, from sourcing candidates and coordinating interviews to extending offers and guiding new employees through orientation and onboarding. Benefits
The Benefits team designs and manages the comprehensive benefits programs offered to our employees. With a combined 33 years of human resource experience, this team oversees medical, dental, and vision coverage, supplemental plans, life insurance, short- and long-term disability programs, and thirteen retirement plans.
Developing these programs is a year-round process. Each year, the team carefully evaluates plan offerings, designs the upcoming benefits package, and implements the annual open enrollment process through our online enrollment system.
In addition to plan administration, the team assists employees with questions related to coverage, claims, and benefits options—ensuring our workforce has the resources and support needed to care for themselves and their families.
Human Resources – Employee Relations, HRIS, and Compensation
This team brings a combined 84 years of human resource experience and focuses on supporting both managers and employees to ensure a positive and productive workplace.
Employee Relations professionals provide guidance on performance management, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns. They play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between managers and employees. They partner with leaders to coach employees, support performance improvement, conduct investigations, and address and resolve issues that may impact our work environment and culture. The Employee Relations team commits to staying current on changes in employment laws and regulations and ensuring organizational compliance.
The team also manages the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), which serves as the system of record for all employee data and payroll information. From personal and compliance information to pay and position changes, the HRIS ensures accurate and secure employee records while supporting payroll and reporting needs across the organization.
Additionally, this team plays a key role in compensation management, including conducting annual salary surveys, maintaining fair and competitive pay ranges, and supporting equitable compensation practices throughout the organization.

The staff development team manages the hospital’s learning management system and other training platforms that support employee development and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. They assign new and annual education, maintain employee licensure and education records, and track certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
