Winter Weather Reminders
What to do:
Remember the 4 P's: People, Pets, Pipes, Plants.
People - Dress in layers, check on vulnerable neighbors, limit time outdoors, check heating systems, stay hydrated
Pets - bring pets indoors if possible, limit time outdoors
Pipes - insulate pipes, open cabinet doors to expose to warm air, let a faucet drip, disconnect hoses
Plants - bring potted plants indoors, cover outdoor plants
Vehicle safety checklist:
Tires - proper inflation including your spare, tread and sidewalls for cuts, punctures, scraps or bulges
Car seats - children should be in thin, warm layers for snug harness, then blankets or coats for warmth
Batteries - battery power may drop in cold weather, vehicles take more battery power to start
Lights - make sure all are in good working condition
Wipers - full reservoir with de-icer, ensure defroster works
Emergency kit - ice scraper, jumper cables, flashlight, emergency markers, first aid kit, blankets, cell phone with charger, water, food
